 About Pastázza

Pastázza opened in January, 1997 as one of the pioneer businesses making Barkley Village their home.  The proprietors, Fred & Lynn Berman, bring a 14 year history of operating their renowned restaurant, Innisfreein the foothills of Mt. Baker to this new urban setting.  Their same commitment to supporting local sustainable agriculture and a unique, healthful, consistently high quality cuisine has lead to the continuing success of these two innovative restaurateurs.

At their previous fine dining restaurant, Innisfree, they were fortunate to be able to serve their guests water that came from an artesian mountain spring.  In order to emulate this same quality they have installed a sophisticated, state of the art, water filtration system throughout Pastázza.  They cook all of their pasta, brew their coffee and teas, serve you water from, and even wash their dishes in water that has gone through this filtration system.

All of the pasta, soups, sauces, desserts, etc. are made fresh from scratch at Pastázza using the finest ingredients available with an emphasis on organically grown products whenever feasible.  The restaurant features vegan and vegetarian options, as well as fresh N.W. fish and seafood..  They serve only fresh Washington grown chicken and all ingredients are conscientiously monitored to prevent the use of preservatives and other chemical additives.  An emphasis is also made to eliminate all wastes by composting, recycling, and using thoughtful purchasing decisions.
